Born in the heartland of America, I came to Zimbabwe as a new bride. Having to adjust to a new culture on a new continent was challenging, but joining a fantastic group of women who met weekly to paint ‘en plein air’ soon helped me find my feet. I have painted on and off since childhood, finding inspiration in the beauty of the world around me. I work mostly in watercolors and pastels with an occasional foray into acrylics, and animals have always been my favorite subject matter. I love the challenge of adding the detail – of capturing the interaction of light and shadow – that brings a painting to life. The natural world has always fascinated me and life in Africa has provided a unique opportunity to view wildlife in its natural habitat. I especially enjoy painting the menagerie of colorful birds which take up residence right outside my back door. My paintings reflect my beautiful Zimbabwe home, and I hope you enjoy this taste of Africa.
