Yurik-Konstantin Luchansky was born in Fairbanks Alaska back in 2007. Yurik is currently seven years old and is of Russian-Filipino heritage. He started painting when he was three with his older sister during the winter of 2010 when his mother was trying to come up with something for the kids to do while it was cold outside. Soon, Yurik and his older sister Yuki were painting every day. Acrylic paints eventually became what the kids enjoyed the most. Yurik’s mom and dad soon decided to make one of the spare bedrooms into an art studio.
He calls his art ‘messy paint’. Yurik took almost a year off from painting when he went overseas while his mother cared for his grandmother who was sick. His mother and father thought he would stop painting and forget about it. But on his return to Fairbanks, and seeing the art studio once again, he began painting and has not stopped since making beautiful and interesting abstract paintings on canvas with acrylics. Yurik enjoys painting as much as time would allow. More and more interesting works of art came from Yurik all the while having fun with his sisters in the art studio. He loves to paint his own special kind of messy paint. Many interesting designs began to emerge from the canvas whenever he got to paint. He had his first group exhibit locally in Fairbanks in 2013 at Denali Center at the age of five and his first solo art show in 2014 at the Artisan’s Courtyard at the age of six. Follow us on Facebook
