The artist is self-taught and has been painting for over 50 years and as a professional since retirement from the U. S. COast Guard in 1982. His paintings are for those who love highly detailed realistic art. Although specializing in marine art, he accepts commissions for any subject including portraits, and will work from your very clear 5"X7" or larger photo. If no photo is available, Mr. RaVell will, based on a description of the subject, generate and email suggested scenes for the client's consideration. To ensure the buyer gets exactly what he/she has requested, the artist emails progres photos at various stages for the buyer's approval and/or recommended changes. Mr. RaVell as a large national and international following. His art hangs in many corporate, private and public galleries including; the United States Coast Guard Academy Officers' Club, the United States Guard Museum and in the ward rooms of several Coast Guard and Navy vessels. One of his paintings was selected for a Christmas Card sold as a fund raiser by the heroic, all volunteer Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) of the United Kingdom. His painting of the United States Coast Guard Icebreaker Eastwind was one of the twelve Icebreaker paintings published in the prestigious Danish, Hempel company's calendar of 2010.
