My love of art stems from a country childhood spent working on Nomini Creek in Virginia. This small tributary off of the Potomac River provided the livelihood for my family and everyone was part of the work force. From crabbing in the summer to fishing in the fall and the spring, to the biting cold of winters tonging oysters, it was a hard life. Little did I realize then just how imbedded those days would be over the course of my life and how those hot summer days working beside my father on the river were forging the man I was to become. I attended Holden School of Art and Design in Charlottesville, Virginia and graduated in 1978. I have continued through the years in my attempts to perfect my craft, and suppose I will do so for my remaining years, as I have found that you can always improve...especially on something that you LOVE to do!
