Living in Albuquerque New Mexico for the past several years,
Lalania Harris( friends call her LaLa) is an artist who moved here from Hawaii (the island of Maui), where paradise exists and the Gods hold the sun to slow down time.
Growing up in Ohio gives her art a foundation of coolness, mixed with a colorful Hawaiian paradise, and a flavor of New Mexican spirit, gives her art a unique flavor.
She attended Columbus College of art and Design (CCAD) in Columbus, Ohio.
In Ohio Lalania lived an interesting life with a mother who was an artist.
nother very important contribution to this budding artistic flower is Native American Spirituality. Her work stems from her experiences with Lakota ceremonies, pow-wows, sun dances, inipi ceremonies (sweat lodge), singing sacred songs, and her illustrious dreams.
When looking at these recent group of paintings there is a theme of water that flows throughout the pieces. "Water spirit was always close to my heart. Spirits are literally in my paintings. They flow through the end of my brush and my hand is just guided by creator. Often I am surprised by my own images because they are not thought out. It's like they just appear without my knowledge by flowing through my sub-conscious."
" I thank creator for blessing me with these visions and allowing me to share them with others."
