Ute Rostaing

My work starts with an idea, an emotion, a sentence, a photo, which intrigues me, calls me, then I weave around, I begin to dialogue with the canvas or the paper. I often need palimpsests, layers to feed the canvas to find other things, surprise me, ask questions, take risks, find myself on the edge of the precipice, looking for weaknesses, I stay or I fall, this anguish is often a motor that helps me find me a new opening. I draw and paint for better understanding.
