Tracey Papa grew up in Sydney, Australia and still resides there. She has been painting, drawing or creating art since she could hold a pencil. Her passion for art has followed her through the years of growing up but did not attend art school as such. She finished a Bachelor of Nursing and Masters Business Administration but always painted when she was not working or studying. In school, she was always nominated to attend special art classes for gifted kids and her artwork in year 12 was nominated to be displayed at a local art gallery. Her inspiration came from artists such as Monet, Renoir, Manet, Van Gogh or Pissarro and she appreciates all sorts of art styles or periods.
Her artwork focuses on the movement and emotions of water because she loves the ocean. She tries to bring the emotions alive when she paints her pieces, as if the person is standing right there. Like most Sydney siders on a sunny day, people flock to the beach, so Tracey wanted to bring a relaxing happy vibe to admirers. In general, she paints local beaches, landscapes and at times she also paints abstract work, people and her travel experiences. She can use all sorts of mediums such as oil paints, acrylic paints, watercolours, oil pastels, graphite etc.
"I feel when I paint, it brings out the best in me. I can go for hours or days painting if left undisturbed. I paint what makes me happy and water or landscapes are usually my comfortable place. Although, I like to challenge myself and paint new art when my mind is hungry. Growing up in Sydney meant people loved water and when we were growing up we would always escape the daily grind by swimming/ surfing, weekend getaways to south or north coast and sitting by a bench admiring the harbour."
