Sticks & Stones

Sticks & Stones

"The doors we open and close each day decide the life we live."
by Flora Whittemore

As an interior designer, I have a keen appreciation of architecture, especially old architecture. As an artist, the texture of old stone and wood and the interesting angles and shadows all provide a challenge I enjoy.

Lately I have focused on doors. There is something evocative about doors, since opening or closing them so often marks significant moments in our lives. So, as I travel here and abroad I sketch doorways. My traveling friends send me photos and stories about doors.

These “Doors in Time” are original watercolors. Each is mounted on a 6 x 8” wood panel to give you different ways to display them. They will stand alone on a shelf, or hang on a wall. They add dimension to a grouping of paintings.
