Artist Amy Prendergast was born and raised in Maine, currently resides in Laconia New Hampshire. An entrepreneur for many years Amy has owned her own cleaning business, hair salon and has supported her daughters with her portrait drawings and painting commissions. Living by the ocean in Maine she developed a love of nature and was intrigued by its detail. Her mother kept Amy and her siblings busy with collecting sea shells, bringing them to their home studio and painting them with paints they made from tempera powder. This is when she discovered she had a great love for art. Though she is a self-taught artist, Amy has not passed up the opportunities to watch other artists work, study art on her own and attend classes.
Always evolving, Amy’s current style is contemporary realism with hints of impressionism. She gets her inspiration from the outside world and has an array of subjects she loves to paint, including New England landscapes, still life’s and figures. Her chosen medium is acrylic. Amy has participated in many art shows throughout her life including Sudbury MA and Wolfeboro, NH. She won her first art competition in the 4th grade and most recently was artist of the month through the Lakes Region Art Association.
