Myself, Mounika Sannidhi. I am a self taught artist and a graduate of fashion design from NIFT India( Mumbai)
Ever since I have graduated tried to hold a job down in the fashion sector and always ended up doing art in my time off.
Being brought up in a household of creative people only made easier for me to follow my passion every time I felt I was lost.
My craft is a resonance of observing my parents paint magnum Opus oil paintings all the time and my love only grew and grew as I grew older.
My artwork takes a view of historic sculptures which have a profound impact on our contemporary culture today. In the current climate where many believe history has no relevance, I find myself continually returning to those aspects that are often hidden. Often referencing Indian history, my work explores the varying relationships between popular culture and fine art. While I use a variety of mediums and processes in each project my methodology is consistent. Each project often consists of multiple works, often in a range of different media, grouped around specific themes and meanings. During research and production new areas of interest arise and lead to the next interesting artwork
