Carolina was born on Sunday 23 November, she loves to paint from a very young age and attended drawing classes in the afternoons after school. At 17 she decided to study Visual Arts at the Javeriana University and since that time she alternated her work with different cultural management and teaching jobs. From 2015 she works fulltime as a freelance artist.
Her time passes between brushes and colors materializing the ideas that relate her to the world, those that emerge from their experiences and need to be created through painting or drawing. Her work explores the memories, this interest appeared when her grandmother became ill with Alzheimer’s and she made a photographic work called “Memories” which recorded the daily life of the disease while the artist was performing art workshops with people that lived in the nursing home where her grandmother passed away. The process of making a piece of art starts with a selection of photographs, then she makes preliminary digital sketches and finally turns them into paintings or drawings.
