ROCKIN HORSE ARTwww.ArtPal.com/rockinhorseart
My art is inspired by childhood dreams and the power of imagination. Candy-coated dreamscapes provide the setting for struggles between the imagination of childhood and the reality of conformity in adulthood. This internal struggle is a common theme in my paintings.
Carousel horses symbolize childhood imagination and are often displayed in distorted dreams or juxtaposed within a technological world of conformity and loneliness. A humorous yet serious portrayal of this relationship is shown with children riding a carousel while sending text messages instead of enjoying the simple pleasures of childhood. Carousel rides, amusement parks, and candy shops depict my childhood passions of horses and candy, with an unexpected twist of isolation and escapism.
My paintings combine the whimsical dreams of childhood with the serious, sometimes disturbing images of confusion and escapism. I have been drawing and riding horses since childhood, so horses are used as symbols of dreams in my paintings. They are often humorously depicted among pop culture references to demonstrate the disparity between individuality and conformity. My paintings display the importance of holding on to one's inner child and never letting go.
