Art is with us and will continue to be with us for a long time; Life is short but art’s not.
I am Daniel Kobina Oppong; a lively individual who hails from Cape Coast, Ghana. I was born on June 21st, 1988 and have loved to paint ever since I was young. Visits to art exhibitions at the Cape Coast Castle to observe the work of other artists at a very tender age inspired my dreams of organizing my own exhibitions in future. These dreams encouraged me to take my subsequent art courses more seriously.
Having no idea about art techniques or materials at the beginning made things quite difficult but relentless reading, learning and practice perfected my skill.
I possess variety of styles because of my approach to a particular subject, but my areas of interest are basically centered on Ghanaian lifestyle, people, landscapes, townscapes, wildlife, seascapes, and other related themes. These themes are usually rendered in an abstract pictorial representation that features clean lines and usually bright colours. Some works of mine are affixed with poetic writing which is my other world of creativity.
Getting involved with art is great. I derive pure pleasure from painting and believe we should not lose our indigenous values but rather we should originate with them. Art is an amazing way to express my imagination, my emotions and my thoughts and I enjoy being myself and being able to express myself through my paintings. Art is with us and will continue to be with us for a long time; Life is short but art’s not.
