About the Artist:
Richard Louis Newman began painting watercolors and acrylics in the 70s, with the occasional oil painting thrown in. But it was in acrylics that he began painting photo-realistic aircraft on canvas, and since that time, his work has appeared in many publications, including: Daredevils Magazine, Airbeat, the Journal of Airborne Law Enforcement, Air Classics, REPArtee, the magazine of the Retired Eastern Pilots Association, and AutoPILOT Magazine.
Other works by Richard featuring aircraft flown by Eastern Airlines include: Morning Electra (L-188 Electra), With a Whisper and a Roar (Boeing 727), Three Over the Fence (L-1011 Tristar.) All are available as prints.
Born in Tampa, Florida, September 25, 1956, Richard is also the author of two mass-market paperback novels, SEIGE OF ORBITOR (1980) and ON WINGS OF EVIL (1988 and now in its third printing). His short fiction has appeared in Espionage Magazine, and the Tampa Tribune’s Fiction Quarterly. From 1988 through 1991, he was the publisher of MISTT. Man In Space Today and Tomorrow, a newsletter dedicated to the support of manned space flight. Always interested in aviation, Richard had a run at sport parachuting in the mid-70s, and in November 1993, successfully completed his first solo.
