Created using the technique of segmented relief portraiture, this the original pattern for this came from "A Scroll Saw Companion". A single slab of 5/8" rubberwood was segmented with a scroll saw and then stained according to instructions. Stained pieces were raised or lowered with respect to one another prior to gluing in place to achieve the 3D-effect. The background and framing are original additions by R. Haining. The frame is cut from rough-hewn cherry and the entire work is protected with a clear urethane coat.
