As an Artist, Designer, Gallery Owner, Art Therapist & World Traveler, Rachel Houseman seeks to sublimate her adventures through her artworks; with the goal of bringing joy to others! "ColorScapes Fine Art" is a series of over 3000 acrylic paintings created primarily "plein air" or outdoors. She is focused on preserving wilderness and serene natural spaces by honoring them through her artwork & landscapes. The "ColorScapes" paintings are filled with the beauty of the forms & shapes of the Earth that seem to radiate with a light within. Rachel loves to paint the desert landscape plein air, observing what she sees, experiencing what she feels and using her bright colors to express her joy and wonder. Rachel is a Graduate of Goddard College, VT with a focus in Art & Healing; she also has a Master's in Counseling Psychology, Art Therapy & Expressive Art Therapy from Prescott College, AZ. In addition to this she studied art and art history at Richmond College in Florence, Italy. Rachel founded her own Art Gallery in 2004. "Eye on the Mountain Art Gallery" which is now located downtown Santa Fe, NM. Since pioneering her gallery in 2004, she has welcomed 100s of Sacred & Visionary Art Exhibits of both Individuals & Groups of Artists. She works through the mediums of her art, events & sacred ritual with community members. She believes in promoting original vision, cultural understanding & healing practices using art. Rachel believes that art is not merely an extra 'addition,' but an actual necessity for human survival. Much of Rachel's artwork seeks to reconcile a perceived loss of connection that humans have with the natural world. Her paintings & artworks are prayers for healing that disconnect. She creates colorful experiences of nature, helping us see the world in a new way and guiding us to our true center. She hopes we continue remembering that as human beings we have the potential to sustain beauty, peace, understanding & balance within our world.
