Quillsong is an artist, born and raised in the South Bronx of New York. He explains there were many challenges growing up in the Bronx as an artist. He found solace amongst the graffiti writers and The East Village punk scene. To this day Quillsong incorporates his urban vision to his native spirituality, creating what he calls “Brutal, Beautiful, Balance”
Quillsong's also receives influence from his Grandmother and Mother whom are both dollmakers and artist, but his true influence is the ancestors that will never have a name and the descendants too far ahead to see. Yes the distance is his true influence. The stories of choices I fill the void with, or the stories that choose me. To shape the unknown through pulling light out of the darkness. Utilizing visual art and the message it can portray. Quillsong's art becomes a story teller at heart so every piece is a tale that speaks with volume.
Quillsong's influences are the cause and effect that performance art draws out or into people. Just like what music & film does to its audience. Eyes dancing and fireworks bursting in your mind, is the ultimate goal when looking at his work.
