www.ArtPal.com/popmodernAt some point during my years of collecting art, I started to realize that the artists themselves actually meant even more to me than the art they created. As incredible and beyond-human as their artistic skills are, the depth of their souls is what drew me to collect their art. Getting to know these artists has been far more impactful then the act of hanging their art on my walls. They give so much of themselves to create their art.
Art speaks to you. It encourages you to think deeper and reflect longer, to slow down and appreciate every breath. Some art conveys sadness, other art conveys joy, and still other works of art manage to convey both. Artists are historians, visionaries, comedians, and defenders of the truth. Some seem to have stayed on the straight and narrow path, and others have lived at the extreme edges. There really isn't one word or one sentence or even one paragraph that could sum up all artists. For every person on this earth there is an artist whose art can reach their soul.
I am putting my collection up for sale because this part of my journey is coming to an end, and another part of my journey is beginning. Though the artists will live with me forever, their art is destined for a new home. My walls once filled with Simkins, Chuehs, and Uenos, are now filled with my three year old's water colors. And you just can't put a price on the latter. I hope to impart on my children everything I learned from these incredible artists who have touched my life in such a meaningful way.
