The artist Philip Okoro has always had the exceptional ability to draw, but never took his creativity to higher level until now. In his undergraduate years at Chicago State University, Philip took a 2 D art class under Chicago State University renowned artist and Professor Alain Gavin to enhance his painting skills. Philip’s creativity marveled his professor who almost convinced him at that time to change his then major to fine art. Philip resisted the temptation, but always knew that he would be doing more paintings on his own while exploring other areas of life.
Philip’s paintings are inspired by his imagination of forms, shapes and expressions taken from life or inanimate observations. Majority of Philip’s paintings are thought driven and processed as sketches before being made into reality by bold colors and powerful brush strokes, leaving a lasting visual impression upon its observers and admirers.
