“Painting is something I do for the love of it, and that about sums it up'.

When a boy, way back in the nineteen fifties’ my mother, who loved to draw but was not a professional artist, was a stay at home mom who ruled our house, me, and my two younger brothers. She was a huge influence on my finding the love of drawing and painting. I'd watch her draw portraits and through her encouragement, I learned that I had a bit of talent myself.

I am self taught and my mentors were, John Singer Sergent and John Singleton Copley. Copley was born in Boston, Massachusetts July 3, 1738. Most famous for Portraiture he was self-taught and that inspired me to become an artist.

My method of operation is to have many paintings going at the same time and jumping from one to another as the mood strikes me. I paint because I love creating whether it be Oil, Watercolor or whatever I happen to get into. Still, it is always nice to sell a piece every now and then. I welcome commissions and I am easy to get in touch with.

My preferences are portrait painting and landscapes but I have always enjoyed working with many other subjects and mediums. Oil paint is my preferred medium, though I also enjoy working with watercolor, charcoal, graphite, pen and ink and pastels. I hope you enjoy some of the works I have posted here on Art Pal. Most of what you see that reads, "Not for sale" is because I am still working on it.

Until my next bright idea, be well, stay healthy and thank you for your interest in my work.
