as free owner
of the great nothing
I must again and again
tap that
big horse neck with
the mind of a child
of three or four years old
to cope
with the day which
takes me in his maw
as a tiger that
devours his prey
Translation of a poem by Leon Adriaans
Pierre van Kaam about his work: "I work in all dimensions and materials. I make art because I have to, there is a beginning and an end, no thought, no concept, it is the only thing I am really able to do. My heroes are Andrei Tarkovski, Joseph Beuys, Richard Serra, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Egon Schiele, Marc Chagall, Miguel de Cervantes, Leon Adriaans. My greatest treasure is my wife and our seven children. I live in Norway, the most beautiful country of the world."
