My job as the artist is to give the paint choices, to initiate the flowing and blending forces that cause the kinetic impacts, collisions that, when occurring in free space, are organic in nature. What I aim to achieve is to create a snapshot, a story, a capturing of the fundamental forces of our universe at play as it does what it does for your and my viewing pleasure. Let the natural forces do the important work! Set up a matrix and freeze Mother Nature at play. Color becomes a character in the dynamic interplay between the Yin and Yang and the forces that separate them. Keep zooming, it never ends!
I don't want to control the painting at all while it self-organizes into some sort of incoherent metaphor. Color and texture unite as the meat and potatoes, but it's really the physical qualities of the liquid paint that is doing all the real work in my paintings. Give the paint some space and a perturbation where it is able to imprint limitless impressions for the observer to decipher on their own.
In a nutshell: liberate the paint and allow it to find its destiny. Set the parameters, add a matrix but most of all, allow the paint to have the freedom it needs to express itself.
