Pengriffin Designs is the artwork of Dominique Shema, a self-taught artist from the Kansas City, Missouri area. She works primarily in pen-and-ink and colored pencil, and favors a decorative style and heroic themes. She also enjoys kawaii and more light-hearted drawings of animals, especially cats.
Her influences are 18th century artwork, the Pre-Raphaelites, the Arts and Crafts movement, and book illustrations and lithography from those time periods.
Art should endeavor to capture goodness and beauty, and so uplift and inspire people. As Mozart said of music: "Even in situations of the greatest horror, it should always flatter and charm, and thereby remain music." The same is true of art.
