Pedro I Vargas, Wichita KS. My interests in art started pre-elementary school days, thanks to having two artists for parents. As a child I sketched, painted, sculpted and designed graphics for t-shirts and posters. I was encouraged to use different art medium. A practice which I still employ. Besides bringing back the Crayola crayon as a fine art medium, I also do some woodworking and whittling, I draw, I paint, mostly watercolor and acrylic. Also used by me: charcoal, pastels, markers, computer digital art. sidewalk chalk, and more.
During school days art was always my favorite class. I found my way into the Wichita State University College of Fine Arts graduating with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts and Graphic Design. I currently work for Rice-Foster Associates, Landscape Architects and Planners, as the in-house Graphic Designer, 3d Modeler and CAD technician.
I once saw someone wearing a shirt that said "Art for Life". The only thought that came to me at that moment was, So...my life IS art. I live it, I breathe it, I dream it. I depend on it as an outlet, a means of expressing my inner thoughts, feelings and emotions. Most commonly, I find myself lost in my work, letting my subconscious mind lead my hand, similar to the psychic automatism used by artists during the Surrealist art movement.
