I am an artist in training, who has an embryonic art practice. Having looked at many different types of art forms I find that my love is for painting and drawing. Painting in oil and watercolours really touches my sole and I feel as though I can express myself through these mediums.
I really love the way you can start with a blank canvas, piece of paper and by moving some pigment mixed with water/oil around you can create a piece of art, that could touch another human being and move them in a positive or negative way. I don’t know where this art comes from, but I know it’s been around for thousands of years.
The art of drawing and painting is a very complicated thing. There are so many different skills and techniques that need to be mastered if you want to use this as your creative vehicle. By focusing, embracing and mastering these technical challenges I will be able to move my practice forward and become the artist I want to be.
Life is all about the journey and that is what I would like my art practice to be. A journey through my life, recording things that are important to me and the people I love. A very personal and intimate reflection on my thoughts and views of the worlds we live in.
Everyday life is difficult and for some people it is more difficult than others. I want to create work that highlights their plight and hope it might go some way to changing these inequalities.
I am influenced by the Renaissance, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci. I am inspired by the great romantic painters, Turner, Constable, Gericault and Goya. I am enlightened and enriched by Picasso and Matisse. Put all these artists in a blender with me and that is what I would like to be.
