Paul Barnes

Graduating from High Wycombe College of Technology and Art in 1969 Paul migrated to Australia from the UK in 1970. He first worked as a display designer for Myer Stores In Brisbane, then as a Graphic Designer with various studios in Brisbane. He then spent over 16 years as the technical illustrator and Graphics Co-ordinator for the Austral Group, Vehicle Manufacturing during which time he won several awards for the company. Whilst with Austral he also won the Courier Mail Design Competition for the Endeavour Foundation Logo.

Paul then became the studio manager at Minale Tattersfield and Bryce, International Design practice, where he worked on many large corporate identity design contracts such as Bond University and the Australia Fair Shopping Complex. Moving on he became the Foundation Studies Convenor at Queensland College of Art, Griffith University where he lectured for a further 16 years whilst also managing his own successful freelance Graphic Design practice.

Paul has exhibited artwork with the QCA Alumni, Doggett Street Studio in Brisbane, Shandong College of Arts (P.R.China) and Hanoi Institute of Fine Art (P.R.Vietnam), Hervey Bay Regional Gallery, Hervey Bay Art Society, Hervey Bay Community Centre, Maryborough Art Society, Gayndah Art Gallery and at other local business outlets. His artwork has been procured by the Australian Commonwealth Art-Bank, The Fraser Coast Council, several local businesses, as well as local and overseas collectors.

He is now retired and living in Hervey Bay where he is an active member of the community. Paul is a member of the Hervey Bay Art Society where he exhibits his work and has won numerous awards. He was engaged to give an Art-talk, as well as the opening address’s for the final TAFE Fine Art Student Graduation at the Hervey Bay Regional Gallery, and for other exhibitions at Gatakers Art-Space in Maryborough.

Paul is a member of the Hervey Bay Art Collective and is a founding member of the Fraser Coast Art Group.
