Working with Jesuswww.ArtPal.com/otautkus
Olivia Tautkus creates representational fusion works, which though heavily influenced by medieval European and Asian traditions and iconography, embody everyday Catholic and Christian working class spirituality. Olivia works in a variety of mediums – from egg tempera to oils to mixed media – using solid colors and focused compositions of intense portraits in an uncluttered environment. At home in Virginia, she began formal adult visual art classes at 13 and studied in the Governor’s Magnet School for the Arts. Her primary inspiration is drawn from classic medieval art and icons for pattern and design but most of all the deep culture and commitment of Catholic faith that they portray. The awareness that God, the angels and the saints accompany each individual and are their everyday companions in the most humble lives and activities has been lost in modern culture. Residing on a small Virginian farm in a very open hearted community with a supportive and encouraging husband, she devotes most days to art, work and new homesteading.
