Physician by calling and successful in her profession, Nirmala Jetty is also an artist by passion. While her quest to understand, explore and heal the mind led her to pursue her studies in America leaving her native country India in 1998, where she graduated from her medical school, she never stopped making art all those years. Art is her second nature. While training at University of Alabama and Childrens hospital during her residency and fellowship years, she became fascinated by the power of art therapy in healing depression, eating disorders and other ailments of the mind. She decribes art as a flame lighting up the grey corners of human mind, providing joy and hope. She is a self-taught artist who applies color pigments on canvas with ease and confidence that matches her expertise in using medications to treat her patients. She is an avid gardener, also a mother, wife and she "creates" time to create art.
