I was born and raised in South Africa and moved to the United States with my family at the end of 1994 during my teenage years. I took several art classes including drawing, acrylic painting and wood sculpture while completing my Speech Communication degree at Colorado State University. My painting instructor repeatedly told me that I had a knack for “flat patterning” which captured my interest in continuing to paint. After dabbling in a few post-college painting classes I joined the Art Students League of Denver, where I have taken a number of different classes and workshops. My favorite tools are palette knives. When people ask me what I paint I respond with, “All kinds of things.” I cannot pinpoint one particular topic that interests me, and many of my paintings are inspired by my life experiences. I enjoy the process of experimenting with different subject matter and ideas, and just having fun. My painting gallery includes abstract portraits, still lifes and impressionist scenes. I currently live in Ventura, California where I work as an occupational therapist.
