He is the spirit of the leaves. He is the angel of the canopy. The Watcher of the Trees is the guardian of Earth’s mysteries. The Tree Spirits bow to his ancient wisdom. Known to some as the Green Man, the Watcher guards the most secret laws of Nature and shares those secrets only with those who are quiet enough and reverent enough to hear him. He represents the force that sustains all of life, standing for humanity’s kinship with the trees and the woods and the land; for irrepressible life and the cycle of renewal and rebirth. He reminds us that, just as human lives have purpose, so too do the trees and their numbers have purpose. We serve and sustain each other’s lives. Without one, the other would perish. Above all, it is this that the Watcher of the Trees wishes us to remember.
