In the last six years of intense art studies, Monte Lee Thornton has transitioned his own style of landscape painting with that of the Baroque movement. Monte captures real-life scenes of the Cayman Islands, to provide a plethora of colours, light, and texture that captivates the art lover. His development of background colors, which is layered multiple times, creates subconscious depth and dimension that tantalizes the eyes. Monte's current series of paintings capture nature scenes throughout Cayman Brac and Grand Cayman. He has lived in the islands since 2005, after traveling here countless time since 1989. In a private collection, Monte's first painting of the Cayman Islands captures the serene beach of Royal Palms Hotel, that is now unrecognizable with today's development. Monte is an avid underwater and landscape photographer, which provides him with accurate documentation for his realistic paintings. With great attention to detail, many of Monte's paintings seem to be as accurate as a photograph. However, his love of Impressionism is reflected in his latest series of ocean landscapes, including calm and turbulent waters, and skies lite with sunrises and sunsets. To view his paintings is to experience all of the natural beauty of Cayman that continues to inspire him. Monte Lee Thornton, BFA, MBA. Born 1957 Fort Worth Texas. Www.monteleethornton.ky
