Michael Kirkbride

I live in a small town in Lancashire England. I have studied art and painting all my life and I have a BA(Homs) degree in fine art from UCLan (University of Central Lancashire). I am also a qualified teacher and worked for a time at Burnley College teaching art and fashion design illustration.
I worked for many years as a designer for the licensed industry and designed the House of Lords Sports and Social Club bar area. Some of my home bar designs were sold by Harrods of Knightsbridge.
I created large murals in the town centre of Colne in Lancashire in 2000 & 2009
In 2018 one of my paintings was accepted by the Royal Academy for their Summer Exhibition and sold before the exhibition opened to the public.
The ‘Woodland path’ painting won first prize in its category at an exhibition in Burnley and Pendle.

I have been interested in the painting of the effects of intense light for a long time and experimented with the techniques of Pointillism.
