Melissa Frisella first decided when she was five years old that she would someday grow up to be an artist. Though she spent some time in banking, followed by a number of years owning and operating her own restaurant, she has now returned to her childhood goal of pursuing a full-time career as a painter. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Her main artistic goal is to use the interaction of light, shadow, and bright color in order to create an atmosphere of joy. Her interest in the natural world is reflected in the subject matter of her paintings. When not involved in making art, she enjoys knitting, gardening, cooking, and getting outdoors as often as possible to immerse herself in the beauties of the Blue Ridge mountains. She currently lives with her husband, dog and cat in Asheville, NC.
