Michael Bloomquist
www.ArtPal.com/mbloomquistMichael was born in Madison, WI in 1965. He grew up all over the Midwest, including Minneapolis, MN, Columbus, OH and Chicago, IL. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1989 with a bachelors of science degree in art. In 1990, he opened a sign business in Delavan, WI that specialized in sandblasted and hand carved signs. It was there in 1995 that he invented the Grain Fraim, an apparatus that when sandblasted through, simulates a wood grain texture in polyurethane foam signboard. This eliminated the need for the scarce and expensive redwood. He still sells these tools, along with other sign related materials.
All along, Michael kept painting Canadian and northern Wisconsin landscapes.
He is an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, and spent a lot of time in the northwoods near Rhinelander, WI, where both of his parents were originally from. He now owns, along with his wife, Mary, Woodhaven Resort, a 5 - cabin family resort on Callahan Lake near Hayward, WI. where he has his studio.
