Maurice Lexington Ellis Jamaican Artist on the Right along with Doctor David Boxer Left one of Jamaica Most Famous Artist and also the Curator of the National Gallery of Jamaica, in his art Studio at his home in Kingston. Maurice Lexington Ellis now Physically Disabled from an accident walking with a walking stick to move around when am not doing Art am in the Farm at home that's how i eat, when am rested and not in the farm It's Arts I Love it. Born 7th January 1972, Spanish Town, St Catherine Jamaica W.I. Attended the Jonathan Grant High School where i Studied Arts and other Subjects. I became more serious about my art career about 25 year's ago where i started to study Arts privately while working as a Private Security Officer my greatest inpiration is Pablo picasso, George Braque, Fernand Leger. I never Liked the security Job for a day, the only thing that i was thinking of each day was to be an artist and find me a better job where i can set up my own Art Gallery with my artworks and other artist works. In 2002 my Life Started to go in the direction of my dreams i was Offered a job at the Bolivar Gallery 1d Grove Road, Kingston, Jamaica by Mr Hugh Martin Dunphy he is the Owner and Curator also a great Jamaican artist Born in England, he is a Very Wealthy Arts and Antiques Collector & Dealler in Jamaica he is a Very Influential person in the Artworld in Jamaica etc. after finding out that i did art myself, Mr Dunphy told me to bring one of my artworks for him to see it, i was working on one Titled Ramses The 1st it was Acrylic Mixmedia on paper and i wanted him to see that one because i knew he would love it. i brought it to him a few days later and he Loved it He told me he would get it framed for me. It was Hang in his Gallery after Framing and was there for only a few Weeks, till one day i turned up at work and they told me the painting was Sold, i felt Very good. Mr Dunphy was Very Impressed with my style of artworks he introduced me to Doctor David Boxer Jamaican Artist and Curator of the National Gallery of Jamaica. We became Very Good friends immediately later on i started getting private lessons from him at is Art Studio he influenced me Allot i Love his Style of work but mine is different because I wanted to be different he had no problems with that because he wanted me to be myself & do the art i wanted to do. Mr Boxer was a Very Good Friend one of the Best i ever had, i also met Owen Beckford one of Jamaica most famous artist also he attended the Edna Manley School of Arts in Jamaica and is doing well in the artworld, I Loved his style of art also and i took allot of private lessons from him. however my style is different. he was also a good friend to me along with Mazola a Teacher at the Edna Manley College of Arts a Famous Jamaican artist Born in Kenya, Africa i have meet other great artist also and still friends etc. They all Inspired me, but Mr Hugh Dunphy and Doctor David Boxer had a greater influenced on me they Inspired me allot. I Love them all for this Because i Love Art From The Bottom of my heart, It's in my blood. and i keep creating them. my artworks are in the Bolivar Gallery Collection and many other private Collections etc. I have had Exhibitions at the Bolivar Gallery, The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, Kingston, Jamaica May 23rd & 24th, 2015, still planning more Exhibitions. 1 Coming up the 25th-26th November 2016, Campion College Kingston, Jamaica at the Arts and Antiques Show where some of my artworks will be on Exhibition and on Sale along with Other items. I do my artworks in the Comfort of my home in Spanish Town, Jamaica.
