I've been interested in photography since I was a child. I got my first real start when I was about nine, we had started raising and breeding show rabbits and my mother was the only one who knew how to set up the breeds we had in the standard position for their breed so that people could best tell their body type and qualities. So I was the one given the digital camera to take pictures for our website. My mother worked at a Wal-mart portrait studio at the time (remember those?!) and was able to give me pointers and I caught on quick.
Not far into high school, I realized that my favorite things to play with to make a photo better were lighting and angles rather than props and editing. Recently I realized that gemstones make the perfect subject. I really like my work with gems because it really illustrates the importance of lighting and angles and how even a slight change in either (especially a slight change in both) can make a dramatic difference in how the image appears. I truly believe that there is not as much editing in magazines as people are led to believe because that doesn't give the photographer enough credit. I'm not saying that editing *doesn't* happen, I just think it is over hyped. A professional photographer can really make the difference.
I do a small amount of modeling and cosplay photography myself, with my sister and her friends, and even though I was good, taking a class on how to properly pose people and knowing what target areas people tend to be self conscious of and how to pose them so they don't hate those areas, it REALLY made a difference in how my pictures of people came out. Especially when paired with the dramatic angles I am so fond of.
I also does some wildlife and scenery photos, which you will see from time to time. I truly enjoy all forms of photography that I do, and I would really like more muscle car and classic car pictures under my belt, but my primary joy in photography is my work with gemstones. While I do have many well loved scenery or wildlife shots that both I and customers love, the majority of my well loved shots are of gemstones, so that is primarily what I sell.
