M.R. Manohar is a self-taught artist, over the years; he has developed an original style and technique, using mostly acrylic and oil paints on canvas. He also does oil pastel and pencil sketches, and some metal embossing on aluminum and copper sheets.

He has also developed new techniques and skills in using art as a therapy for people with mental illness and mental disabilities in 1976.

His art is an expression and a reflection of his relationship with marginalized people, and also of his personal journey through life. His works reveal the Intensity of his emotions and passion through its forms and colors.

Manohar is a trained counselor and a therapist works with people with mental disabilities and illness from the economically poorer slums and rural areas of south India for 40 years, he is heading an Organization for children with mental disabilities, as an Early Intervention program,( he has traveled extensively in India and Europe and the USA.
