Mahdi Khene was born in Algeria and raised between New York, Washington D.C., and Paris, among other cities. This constant traveling has rooted a particular sensitivity towards places, and that has been expressed in his latest collection.
A series of portraits inspired by different neighborhoods in New York City. The artist gives the neighborhoods a face, expressing its essence through a clever use of color and facial traits. The portraits, which come from his imagination, instantly project the places' emotions and impressions without drawing upon memories or known faces.
He is a self taught artist who experiments through different artistic media: painting, film, music, among others. He currently lives in New York City.
