My mother said I was coloring with crayons before I could walk. I remember being scolded for drawing and coloring a picture of a Christmas tree when I was five—on the bathroom wall. That Christmas, Santa left me my first set of canvas boards, and some good advice, “Leave the walls alone!"
From first grade to fifth I used crayons, then switched to paint in response to advice from a teacher I respected. After graduation, I married and raised two children. Although I tried, there didn’t seem to be much time left for art until my husband and I retired. Happily, since then, I’ve painted almost every day. It is my joy, my relaxation, and my salvation. I sell my paintings, but my real happiness comes out of the positive response I receive from those who enjoy them. I feel like I am contributing, at least a little, defiance of the convolution of everyday life. I hope, if you purchase one of my paintings, you enjoy it as much as I have, in painting it.
