I started sketching when I was a child. All my life I've drawn animals and birds, fish, aquatic mammals - but until my car accident that almost left me blind, I drew them in a cartoonish manner. When my peripheral vision was lost due to a concussion, I was afraid of losing my sight. I used my ability to draw to heal my own sight, and in the end, my peripheral vision loss was minimal. During those few weeks of healing my brain with art, my animals became realistically detailed, changing my style of artwork forever. Now, I'm thankful for that car accident.
