I am primarily a self taught artist who started life with crayons and pencils and paper. I was fortunate to have weekly demonstrations of art basics of drawing in grades 1 through 8, frequently winning awards at our yearly art shows. As an adult I tried just about every form of drawing and crafting there is, and even won a first place award for one of my early watercolors.
For my thirty-third birthday I gave myself a class in oils while living in New Mexico. I was greatly influenced by Georgia O' Keeffe and began to explore abstract art first with oils, then pastels and watercolors. Over time my creations became more and more vivid and less "recognizable", though all my paintings seem to hide something familiar. I greatly enjoy when people first look at one of my pieces and they immediately say, "There's a "...." right here!" Explore my site and see if anything grabs you.
The Scripture that inspired me for this week's painting was
"Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will rebuild you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with lapis lazuli. I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.
