LYNN KAUFFMAN: EXPRESSIONISM ON DISPLAY
Overindulgence has been blamed for dulling the force of surrealism in art and leaving in the movement's wake wisps of incantations which are incoherent and irrelevant. But Lynn Kauffman's work is a beautifully honed show of surrealism.
Most of the works are monochrome pen and ink drawings, although there are also transparent watercolor washes and acrylic paintings.
Lynn prefers to call the works expressionistic and declines to reveal what they express. Regardless of the label, the works easily could have been done under the influence of Kurt Seligmann, with their spiraling contortions and visionary scenes as though dreamed on the island of Patmos.
Many of the works do not carry a title. Lynn apparently finds such practice useless because she believes, generally, that the message and art are whatever the viewer feels and sees.Revelations perceived by the viewer are the same as the artist wanted, regardless of her personal intention in creating the work.
Lynn seems to be working alone, with her own version of the world and unconcerned with that of others. She does not deprive her objects of their conventional purposes in order to give them new ones, but she does use them in strange situations.
Impulses for her art seem to spring from the unexplored realms of her mind, breaking from rational vision. She creates irrational visions to fill the void, much as Breton advocated.
Each of her works seems to echo the philosophies of Andre Masson and Yves Tanguy. They saw a perpetual struggle between life and death and hunted mysteries presented by the infinity of sky and the depths of the oceans.
Lynn Kauffman studied art at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem,Israel. Betzalel is Israel's oldest institution of higher education(1906) and one of the world's most prestigious art schools.

Born in 1979, Jeremiah produced the majority of his work from 2000 to 2008.Jeremiah's eclectic art work is filled with wonder, humanity, humor, mystery and beauty! Specializing in ink illustration, Jeremiah created hundreds of drawings, digital designs, pencil sketches and acrylic paintings, as well as poetry, prose, journals and published articles. ARTIST'S STATEMENT: I get inspiration from abstract sources: shapes, lines, the textures created by ink and patterns; basically, pure aesthetics. Everything I do has a touch of humor because I find it hard to take anything seriously, even though I am a very serious person,
