I am an artist/filmmaker. I retired in 2018 after teaching art for the NYCDOE. Before my son deployed to Afghanistan in 2011, he and his older brother purchased for me, a huge set of Caran Daché pencils. They told me to create one drawing a day for three hundred days, and when I was completed my son would be home from Afghanistan. I did as they asked because they knew I would have panic attacks concerning his well-being all hours of the day and night. When I had completed my "assignment" he was home! He also brought home all his soldiers safe and sound. This started me drawing and collaging continually. The first series of works titled "300 Days" have been exhibited in various venues and are scheduled to appear in the Freeport library in July. My latest work has created during the pandemic. All my drawings appear on my blog; lkaplanb.blogspot.com.
