Lisa Mc Devitt (°1996, Galway , Ireland) makes drawings, paintings and mixed media artworks. Her works are on one hand touchingly beautiful, on the other hand painfully attractive. By using the popular theme of death, decay and preservation the artist leave us orphaned with a mix of conflicting feelings and thoughts. By applying abstraction she creates intense personal moments masterfully created by means of rule and omission, acceptance and refusal, luring the viewer round and round in circles
By applying abstraction, Mc Devitt investigates the dynamics of the Irish landscape, including the manipulation of its effects and the limits of spectacle based on our assumptions of what landscape means to us and links the bog with death and decay. Rather than presenting a factual reality, an illusion is fabricated to conjure the realms of our imagination.
