Larry Landaker is a real estate professional living in the Texas Hill Country, near Austin. Some time ago he desired a better work/life balance.
"I bought a great camera and some lenses and began taking shots of different and unusual things that people might not see every day. Once I trained my eye to look for those things, I couldn't stop shooting. Because I live in the Texas hill country and work in the city, I see endless material in both worlds. I also like to photograph freedom and democracy in action and am often found at protests, marches, and other free-speech venues. My eye gravitates toward organic, real and authentic subjects...and color, always color."
While fully respecting the technical aspects of his camera and editing software, he believes the essence of photography is found in the subject itself.
"The camera will shoot anything but there must be something compelling in the image, something that evokes a response. It might make you smile, cry, frown, recoil, laugh, or question. Maybe it amazes or carries you to a far away place or a distant memory. When these things happen, it's usually a good picture."
