My name is Leslie. I grew up on Nantucket Island, Cape Cod, Massachusetts where I lived with my Grandmother and my Dad. I had an amazing childhood and formed a lot of friendships. There is something truly special about my Nantucket Family. I graduated High School in Nantucket and went to Johnson and Wales College in RI. After my Dad and Grandmother passed I moved to Hyannis. I lived in Dennis for some years, lived in West Yarmouth briefly and have since moved back to Hyannis.
I have many labels.
I am Nana to 4 beautiful, amazing Granddaughters, Mom to 4 Children, Godmother to 3, Daughter, Sister to 8, Auntie to many many nieces and nephews. I am also a niece and cousin of an extraordinary family who I am so very proud to be a part of. The one label that I am seeking is that of an Artist and I hope you like the paintings that I am about to share.
I want to thank God for all he has done in my life. He is my Rock.
Rest in sweetest peace Kiara, Rodaine, Rusty, Daddy, Grandma, and Nana.
I Love you, I miss you, and I'm Ok.
I started painting when I was bored and on unemployment. I always could draw. I got that from my Dad. I always wanted to learn to paint. I guess you can say I am a “self taught artist”. And I have found the effective way to learn is by doing……………..practice, practice and more practice.
I started painting with oil paints but I found they took forever to dry and it was not easy to blend my colors, so I decided to try acrylics and loved them. They also are easy for clean up. You just use water. I eventually got another job and didn't have enough time on my hands for painting and my husband said “Are you going to stop painting now?” since I literally had paintings all over the house. “Of course not! I said I love to paint! It relaxes me”. anyway I started back to work and with the stress of every day life and my new job I just didn't have the time. Its been a few months now, far too long, since I picked up a paintbrush. now I have picked up my brush and I feel the urge to start painting again and I’m approaching a new cycle!
This is the time to start a new beginning, a new year which is a perfect time to hit the reset button on my life.
A new chapter I’m after.
this is for you Kiara….
