Labeja Gilbert: Visual Artist whose Contemporary Art practice involves research, expression and communication.
Born 17 Feb. 1990, in a family of seven (3rd last), born and raised in Kampala Central Uganda, former student of St. Lawrence University majored in Painting & Graphic Design. I picked up an interest in art at an early stage mainly from my Grand father was a carpenter, i was amazed by the way he created things from nothing but just with a few pieces of timber, that alone led me to the art path. I am currently on a self-programmed residence at EWAFFE Garment Printing as a graphic designer & Artist. I am a young growing artist at the early stages of my carrier trying to get through life with the gift of art, the goal is to narrate life’s stories through my artwork to touch and change lives. I have had a previllage to participate in group exhibitions mainly in Central and Northern Uganda.
