Kirsten Button is an Australian artist with an interest in the bigger issues of life. Why we are here and where we are going. Sometimes her inquiry is personal or reflective and sometimes she outlines a broader perspective. Her observations are usually understated requiring a thoughtful observer to read the "clues" she presents. Her overall aim is to make people think and ponder the deeper meanings she suggests. From the psychological question of 'Who am I?" to the political and scientific questions that query "what does it mean to be human?"
Her background is diverse with a university education in design and an early career in stained glass. She currently works part time as an art teacher and full time as an artist. Her work includes large landscape oil paintings, mixed media acrylic, pen and ink drawing and large scale murals. Her latest painting was a commission to paint on an actual saxophone.
