Marijane Kent is originally from Bozeman, Montana and has been drawing and painting since childhood. She was able to pursue a love of art with studies at Montana State University, the University of Kentucky, and finally West Texas A&M University where she obtained a BFA in Graphic Design and a MA in Printmaking/Drawing. After working as a graphic designer for a time, Marijane retired and now is able to create art full time.
I enjoy working with a variety of mediums, both as a painter and as a printmaker. My chosen mediums in paint are watercolor and fluid acrylics. I especially like the challenge of trying to depict how light reveals the form of the subject.
My love of drawing was what first drew me to try printmaking in college and I have been fascinated by it’s challenges ever since. I make etchings, lithographs, linocuts and woodcuts, as well as works that combine more than one process. I have also been exploring the use of solarplate etching to reproduce original drawings and photographs.
