Kimberly Blankenstein's acrylic art work is inspired by memories of past travel destinations, and influenced mostly by color. Often when she begins a new painting, she has already decided on a primary color which she will use throughout the work, creating a range of shades and moods from that one. The paint mixing process is her favorite part, and she enjoys using partially mixed acrylic colors to create texture, movement, and dimension.
Kimberly grew up in Bolinas, California, where she spent her childhood surrounded by art supplies and creative encouragement, but she started painting more recently, during a period of unemployment. Kimberly and her husband currently live in Altus, Oklahoma, where the endless sky offers her a stunning palette each evening. Despite living in a landlocked state, Kimberly is still fascinated by water elements.
